Ben Potter died tragically at the age of 40.

The YouTube star was best known as a comic storyteller and had 3 million subscribers on his channel, which covered all things comics.

Ben‘s wife Nathalie Potter posted a statement on his Twitter account @Comicstorian announcing the devastating news.

“Two days ago, on June 8, my husband Ben Potter died in a regrettable accident,” Natalie wrote in their statement. “To many of you, he was a comic storyteller who told stories from many different mediums. To his loved ones, he was one of the best and most supportive people anyone could ask for. As a husband, son, brother, friend, or even just a stranger, Ben was loving and genuine. He was someone who listened and made time for his loved ones. He did his best to make everyone laugh and make sure they were OK. He was our rock, reassuring his loved ones whenever they needed it.

She continued, “He was my world and I need time to be with friends and family. I have so many things to sort out, but first I need to grieve. I ask that you please respect my privacy as well as everyone else’s. Right now, my priority is to preserve everything he built and I have no further plans.”

Natalie confirmed that she will continue the channel.

“His channel was one of his greatest achievements, and while we all need our time to mourn his passing, I know he doesn’t want it to end like this. Ben spent over 10 years spreading his love and appreciation for his hobbies. His love of engaging stories and well-written characters is what got him started on YouTube,” she said. “The team and I want to keep that going. We want to honor him by continuing to tell great stories of great people, and we want to keep the memory of our own superhero alive. We supported each other in everything we wanted to do, and I’m not going to stop now.”
