Jon Rahm doubtful for US Open after withdrawing from LIV Houston

Jon Rahm became doubtful for next week’s US Open at Pinehurst after withdrawing during the second round of Houston’s LIV Golf event on Saturday.

There were already question marks over Rahm’s fitness after footage emerged of him grimacing in pain after hitting a tee shot on the seventh hole during the first round.

The Spaniard has struggled this year, going winless on the LIV Tour, while he has shown frustration at major championships, missing the cut at the PGA Championship after a T45 finish at the Masters during his home defense at Augusta .

Rahm’s form has plummeted since he joined the Saudi-backed tour. Last year, he finished in the top 10 in three of four majors, including the T10 at the US Open.

The 2021 US Open champion has not appeared settled on the LIV Tour since moving in late 2023 and it is suggested he is unhappy with the touring lifestyle.
