Robbery suspect arrested at scene of another incident | News

Millbrook police responded to a domestic violence call on Monday, but found an offender at the scene who had committed another crime.

When police arrived at Crossings Drive, they found the 44-year-old female victim with minor injuries who had reported domestic violence. Officers also encountered 30-year-old Millbrook resident Cedrick M. Long, who was wanted in connection with a robbery that Millbrook police were investigating.

“The investigation is ongoing, so we cannot release much information at this time,” said Millbrook Police Chief PK Johnson. “We are actively trying to locate this individual in connection with this robbery warrant, which may involve multiple victims who have not yet come forward for some reason.”

Long was previously identified as a suspect in the case. He was charged with first-degree robbery and taken to the Elmore County Jail, where he remains without bail.

Long has a criminal history that, according to Johnson, includes violent acts involving weapons and attempts to flee from police.

Johnson hopes the arrest will reassure other potential victims and witnesses that they will now come forward and report what Long did or what they saw of other possible related crimes.

“Although law enforcement is tasked with conducting criminal investigations and apprehending alleged offenders, victims and witnesses must still play an active role by testifying against those who are alleged to have committed the crimes they are accused of,” Johnson said. “Law enforcement stands ready to bring justice to victims of crime, but we need the cooperation of our citizens to successfully accomplish our mission, which is to protect our citizens.”

Officers filed a third-degree domestic violence report for the victim, who refused medical treatment for minor injuries.
