Two people were killed and 13 others injured in Russian missile attacks on the city of Kharkiv, the governor of Kharkiv Oblast, Oleh Syniehubov, reported in the early hours of May 31.

Russian forces attacked a multi-storey residential building in the city of Kharkiv, killing one person and injuring 13 others, Kharkiv Oblast Governor Oleh Syniehubov said. reportedAnother person, a security guard at a sewing workshop, was also killed in an attack elsewhere in the city, Suspilne. reported.

According to Suspilne, Russian missiles hit three locations in the city – a five-story residential building, a sewing workshop and a local store.

By 1:30 a.m. local time, at least one person had been killed and two others hospitalized in the attack on the residential building, including a 12-year-old boy.

Rescue workers are currently on site and have said that more victims could be under the rubble. Two 12-year-old children were injured in the attack, Suspilne reported.

The impact, which occurred around midnight local time, damaged three of the building’s five floors and caused a fire, Suspilne reported.

Mayor of Kharkiv, Ihor Terekhov said on Telegram that a later attack on the same location may be a “Double tap‘ attack, in which Russian forces wait for first responders and the media to arrive before attacking the same location again and causing greater damage.
