Alabama man arrested for East Moline murder

A 22-year-old Davenport man was shot and killed in East Moline Saturday evening.

On Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 11:44 p.m., East Moline Police Officers responded to the 1000 block of 51st Avenue in East Moline to a report of shots fired and an unresponsive male subject on the ground was shot. This is in the Deerfield Woods apartment complex. Upon arrival, officers found a man who had been shot multiple times and was unresponsive, according to a news release Monday.


Responding officers administered life-saving measures to the man, handed him over to Fire and EMS and transported the man to Genesis Illini Hospital. The man, Michael J. Robinson, 22, of Davenport, died shortly afterwards in the hospital. Rock Island County Coroner Brian Gustafson has scheduled an autopsy for today.

Jarquez Robertson, 21, of Huntsville, Alabama, was charged with first-degree murder.

The East Moline Investigations Division immediately began an investigation into this incident. A male suspect was soon identified as Jarquez D. Robertson, 21, of Huntsville, Alabama, who may have fled the area in a vehicle back into Alabama, police said.

A no-bail arrest warrant was obtained for Jarquez Robertson on a charge of first-degree murder.

A nationwide alert was raised to look for the suspect and the vehicle he was driving. Huntsville, Alabama police were also contacted as it was suspected he was heading to that area. At approximately 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 5, Huntsville, Alabama police located Jarquez Robertson and arrested him without incident. He is being held at the Madison County Jail in Alabama and proceedings are underway to extradite Robertson to the Rock Island County Jail in Illinois.
