17-year-old arrested after “shooting” near Troup

TROUP, Texas (KETK) – Troup police said they arrested a 17-year-old in connection with reports of shots fired in the city on Saturday.

According to Troup police, after receiving reports of the shooting on Saturday, they were able to locate several people involved in the incident at a residence on Railroad Street with the help of the Smith County Sheriff’s Office and other surrounding agencies.

They arrested several people in the home and learned of additional suspected criminal activity. They also found several firearms in the area.

Latravion Dewberry, 17, of New Chapel Hill, was arrested Sunday on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with Saturday’s “shooting,” according to Troup police.

Troup police said the investigation into the incident is ongoing and additional charges are pending.
