Police say a child was shot and killed in a shooting on Campbell Avenue on Chicago's Near West Side the night of a crime over Memorial Day weekend

CHICAGO (WLS) — A five-year-old girl was shot dead on the city’s West Side on Sunday, police said.

The shooting occurred at about 3:32 a.m. in the 200 block of Campbell Avenue in the Near West Side neighborhood, Chicago police said.

A group was standing outside when shots were fired.

The girl was in a parked vehicle when she was shot in the stomach and taken to the hospital where she later died.

A 24-year-old man was shot in the thigh and taken to hospital in good condition.

No one in custody. No other injuries were reported.

Chicago Police Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding this shooting.
