Federalsburg man arrested after fleeing from police |

CAMBRIDGE – A Federalsburg man wanted by Cambridge police on attempted murder and assault charges was arrested Wednesday after fleeing from Talbot County Sheriff’s officials.

Adrian Jerrod Jenkins, 29, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, attempted distribution of heroin/fentanyl, fleeing and eluding, driving without a license and other traffic violations, according to a news release from the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office.

The release said Jenkins was driving east on Ocean Gateway in the Trappe area when officers attempted to stop him for traffic violations. Police said officers discovered Jenkins’ vehicle registration had been suspended.

According to the press release, Jenkins accelerated to elude officers and drove into Dorchester County, where Dorchester County Sheriff’s officers joined the pursuit.

In Cambridge, Jenkins lost control of his vehicle, hit a retaining wall and came to rest on Academy Street near Cedar Street, police said.

Police said that after Jenkins was arrested, they found through a check of their records that he was wanted on a September 2023 charge of attempted murder and assault. At the time of that charge, Jenkins was on probation for a 2022 conviction of second-degree assault.

Jenkins was taken to the Talbot County Central Booking Center. Police said he will be held pending further court proceedings.

Jenkins is scheduled to appear in Talbot County on traffic violations and drug possession charges, and at a later date on probation violation charges. He is scheduled to appear in Dorchester County on attempted murder charges in June.

The Cambridge Police Department and the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the incident.
