4 people arrested in Andhra Pradesh for filming rape of girl and circulating the video: Police

Mandavalli (Andhra Pradesh), May 24 (PTI) – Andhra Pradesh police on Friday arrested four men for “filming” the alleged rape of a girl by a minor and circulating the video, police said on Friday.

The incident allegedly occurred on May 15, but came to light only recently and led to the arrest of Bale Balasubrahmanyam (22), Gantashala Chandrasekhar (28), Peddireddi Dharmateja (19) and Jayamangala Hari Krishna (20).

“The boy was sent to a juvenile home while the arrested men were remanded in custody,” a police official told PTI.

According to police, the minor victim and the youth knew each other and the former had gone to the public school in Chintapadu village in Mandavalli mandal in Eluru to collect books.

When the boy, a 10th grade student, saw the seventh-grader alone, he led her into the school and allegedly raped her, police said. The arrested men, whom the boy knew, filmed the act and showed the video clip to many people.

The girl’s parents filed a police complaint, which led to the arrest of the four men under sections 376(3) and 354C (voyeurism), 341 (punishment for false imprisonment), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 109 (punishment for abetment, if the abetment is subsequently committed and there is no express provision for its punishment) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

They were also arrested under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Information Technology Act, police said. PTI STH RC
