Teenager arrested for raping three-year-old

By Doreen Mokgolo

A 16-year-old was arrested on Monday for allegedly raping a three-year-old boy from Sasekani village in Limpopo.

The minor went to his neighbor’s garden to play and when he returned home, he told his grandmother that his brother’s friend had raped him.

The grandmother approached the suspect’s father to question him about the incident, but the 16-year-old denied raping the boy.

Limpopo police spokesman Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the incident was immediately reported to police and the victim was taken to hospital for medical examination.

“The suspect was tracked down and arrested in Sasekani village on the morning of May 14.

“The probation officer is expected to prepare an assessment report on the suspect in view of the trial soon,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ritavi police have launched a search for a man who raped a 26-year-old woman in Lephepane village in New Stands, Limpopo on Monday afternoon.

The victim was reportedly walking down the street when she saw the man wearing a red jumpsuit.

The man is said to have grabbed the victim and strangled him before pushing him to the ground.

He forcibly stripped her, raped her and fled the scene on foot.

Ledwaba said the victim managed to get help and reported the incident to the police, who immediately opened a rape case.

“The victim claims that the suspect is known to her by sight and is believed to be near Lephepane village,” Ledwaba said.
