Gunman arrested in 2023 Bridgeport shooting

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — One of the victims of a shooting in Bridgeport last year was identified as one of the gunmen and arrested Thursday, according to police.

The shooting occurred on April 8, 2023 at 11:20 p.m. at the BP gas station at 1464 Fairfield Ave. While officers were investigating the crime scene at the gas station, one of the victims made his way to an area hospital.


The victim, 25-year-old Elijah Vines, was suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. Police were able to determine that Vines was shot at the BP gas station.

After multiple interviews and extensive investigation, police were able to identify Vines as one of the shooters in the incident. A warrant for his arrest was issued on April 25, 2024.

Vines was located by the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force on Thursday, May 9, in south Bridgeport. He was arrested, taken to Bridgeport Police and charged with:

  • Criminal attempt – bodily harm in the 1stst Degree
  • Criminal Possession of a Firearm (2 counts)
  • Illegal discharge of a firearm
  • Reckless endangerment in the 1stst Graduation (3 points).

Vines was arraigned in Bridgeport Superior Court on Friday and is next due in court on May 21.
