Juvenile offenders arrested during gun theft investigation in Harris County – CNAW 2 with Colin Scroggins

Two juveniles are charged as part of a firearms theft investigation in Harris County.

The investigation began on May 9, 2024, when Harris County officers were called to the area of Hunter Road in reference to two drive-in calls involving multiple firearms.

“Based on the initial investigation, two juveniles from Carpenter’s Way Ranch were identified as the perpetrators and both were taken into custody and transported to RYDC,” the sheriff’s office said. Both parties were charged with one count of driving into a car (felony). At this time, a firearm was recovered by responding officers. During the follow-up investigation on May 10, 2024, it was determined that additional vehicles had been broken into and that several firearms had been stolen from these vehicles.

“Based on this information, we contacted Dr. “Finney coordinated to stop the traffic of the three school buses that the perpetrators would normally ride to school,” the sheriff’s office added. The Troup County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit was deployed as a precaution to search all three buses for firearms, but no firearms were found.

Investigators then moved to Carpenter’s Way Ranch and, with the director’s permission, the edge of the woods was searched for additional evidence. During the search, officers and investigators seized three additional firearms and several airsoft pistols. “All those responsible are in custody and there is no threat to the community,” the sheriff’s office news release said. “Further charges will be filed and the seized firearms will be returned to their rightful owners.”
