Driver of stolen vehicle hits and injures Alameda County Sheriff's Deputy

ALAMEDA COUNTY – The driver of a stolen vehicle struck and seriously injured an Alameda County sheriff’s deputy in the unincorporated community of Ashland on Wednesday, authorities said.

The incident occurred around 8 a.m. when the Alameda County Regional Auto Theft Task Force and officers from the Eden Township Substation attempted to arrest two suspects driving stolen vehicles, according to the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office.

“Our deputy sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment,” the sheriff’s office said in a press release Friday. “We are thankful the deputy survived and is receiving the medical treatment he needs to recover from this traumatic incident.”

According to the sheriff’s office, two suspects were arrested in connection with the incident.
