First positive steroid test at the Olympic Games in Paris has been reported and an athlete is suspended

PARIS – A male judoka from Iraq tested positive for two anabolic steroids at the Paris Olympics, the International Testing Agency said Friday.

Sajjad Sehn, a 28-year-old Olympic rookie, tested positive for methandienone and boldenone in a sample taken in Paris on Tuesday. He was scheduled to compete next Tuesday.

Sehen has been provisionally suspended while disciplinary proceedings against him are underway, said the ITA, which oversees the anti-doping program during the Games for the International Olympic Committee.

“This means the athlete is prevented from competing, training, coaching or participating in any activity during the Olympic Games,” the agency said.

Sehen was scheduled to compete in the men’s 81-kilogram class and face an opponent from Uzbekistan in the round of 32 on Tuesday.
