Man dead, woman injured in house fire in Lodi

A man was found dead and a woman was rescued in a house fire Tuesday, the Lodi Fire Department said. Crews responded to the one-story residence on Magnolia Court near Hawthorne Lane around 5 p.m. after a structure fire was reported. Fire officials said an elderly woman was rescued from the home and taken to San Joaquin General Hospital. A man was found in the back room of the home, officials said. He succumbed to his injuries. Fire officials said flames spread to the ceiling and attic, but the fire was contained to the two rooms where it started. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Responding to a report of a building fire, emergency crews responded to the one-story home on Magnolia Court near Hawthorne Lane around 5 p.m.

Firefighters said an elderly woman was rescued from the home and taken to San Joaquin General Hospital.

Officials said a man was found in the back room of the house. He succumbed to his injuries.

According to the fire department, the flames spread to the ceiling and attic, but the fire was confined to the two rooms in which it broke out.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
