Recall warning: Hyundai Elantra N, Kona N, Veloster N; Genesis G70

Hyundai and its luxury division Genesis have recalled 54,647 vehicles that may experience a loss of power while driving.

The recall affects the following vehicles:

Hyundai told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that a piston in the cars’ fuel pumps can wear out, allowing too much fuel to enter the engine. This causes the engine to be fed too rich a fuel-air mixture, resulting in a loss of power.

Hyundai dealers solve the problem in two steps. They update the engine control software to fix the problem. Then they check the fuel pump to see if the plunger is intact. If necessary, they replace the fuel pump.

Recall repairs are always free.

Many cars are recalled during their lifetime, often more than once. Automakers try to contact every owner, but don’t always reach everyone. Find out if your car has a pending recall using the simple VIN tool in our Recall Center.
