Brad Pitt criticizes Angelina Jolie’s ‘sensationalist’ demand to release private text messages about plane incident | Hollywood

The ongoing legal battle between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie over their French winery Château Miraval has just gotten worse. Pitt is vehemently defending himself against Jolie’s latest demand, calling it a blatant invasion of her privacy. The actress’ team is reportedly demanding access to Pitt’s private messages about the infamous 2016 plane incident that allegedly played a role in their divorce. The “Moneyball” actor’s lawyers, however, are vehemently opposed, condemning the demand as a “sensational fishing expedition” that is irrelevant to the dispute over the winery.

Brangelina’s high-profile divorce negotiations, which are close to being settled, are taking another bitter turn. Pitt has officially filed a motion to dismiss Jolie’s demand to disclose their private conversations. Those conversations include details of a 2016 family plane ride during which Pitt allegedly assaulted his then-wife and children. The motion was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

Pitt’s legal team strongly opposes the demand, calling it an intrusive intrusion. They claim that Pitt had already offered to provide documents detailing the flight, but Jolie refused that compromise and instead viewed his private conversations with third parties about the incident. The alleged communications include “sensitive topics such as the therapy he voluntarily undertook to improve himself after the flight incident, ‘drug and alcohol testing’ he allegedly underwent, his alleged ‘excessive alcohol consumption or abuse,’ and other actions he took after the flight,” the court filing states, according to People.

The Babylon actor was charged with “attempted assault” for allegedly grabbing Jolie by her hair, shaking her repeatedly and then violently shoving her against a bathroom wall. This incident reportedly occurred in front of their children. In addition, allegations were made against Pitt of using violence against his children during the altercation.

“Private communication with third parties is not relevant”

In April, Jolie filed a motion to obtain a non-disclosure agreement, which her team said Pitt demanded as a condition of purchasing her Miraval shares. In addition, her legal team claimed Pitt persistently sought to exert control over her, exploit her financially and cover up his past of abuse and control.

In response, Pitt’s legal counsel argued that the actress’s request for “private third-party communications” from that time should not be considered relevant to the dispute. “If Jolie’s requests were truly about ‘what happened on that plane,’ as she claims, Pitt’s offer would have been sufficient,” the filing states.

“However, Jolie still wants them as part of her efforts to turn this business dispute into a renegotiation of the former couple’s divorce proceedings.”
