Springfield man allegedly raped woman in her sleep

CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Missouri – Charges have been filed against a Springfield man accused of raping his girlfriend.

Online court documents show that Norris Eugene Barnes, 48, has been charged with second-degree rape.

A probable cause statement from the Nixa Police Department (NPD) states that the victim told police she was sleeping when she woke up and found Barnes having sex with her.

According to the documents, the victim repeatedly asked Barnes to stop. She also told NPD that Barnes had attacked her in her sleep before, despite her repeated requests for him to stop.

Barnes is currently scheduled to appear in court again on August 20, 2024.
