Fire in New Jersey: 2 children and one adult killed in West Orange

WEST ORANGE, N.J. (WABC) – Two children are among the three people killed in a house fire in New Jersey.

Shortly after 11 a.m. on Saturday, flames broke out in the house on Liberty Street in West Orange.

Firefighters found two unconscious children in the house, both under the age of 10. An adult was also found unconscious. Paramedics performed CPR, but all died.

Neighbors say the deceased adult was the grandmother of the two children. They say they were worried about the family because police were often called to the house.

A neighbor who lives across the street told Eyewitness News they had no idea there was a fire, but they all heard the boys’ mother screaming when she came home Saturday morning.

“The daughter went crazy – she was hysterical. All the children are dead and you can see them doing CPR. The mother was the last to come out and finally they put up bars,” the neighbor said.

The exact cause of death is still under investigation. The names of the children have not been released.

The cause of the fire is also currently being investigated.
