Michigan man arrested and charged in Raleigh County

GHENT, WV (WVNS) — A Michigan man was arrested and charged after a search warrant was executed in Raleigh County.

Harold Burton, 28, of Detroit, Michigan, was arrested and charged with two counts of fentanyl trafficking.


The Raleigh County Drug and Violent Crime Task Force and the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team executed a search warrant on a residence on Walker Street in the Ghent neighborhood of Raleigh County on Thursday, July 11, 2024.

While executing the search warrant, officers found two firearms, suspected pressed fentanyl tablets and suspected fentanyl.

Burton was taken to the Southern Regional Jail on $150,000 bail.

Members of the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office, Beckley Police Department, West Virginia State Police, FBI and ATF make up the Raleigh County Drug and Violent Crime Task Force.

According to the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office, all suspects/defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
