Uttar Pradesh: Woman shot dead, three family members injured in night attack

Unnao (Uttar Pradesh): A 48-year-old woman was shot dead at her home here in the early hours of Monday while her husband and two other family members were injured when a youth and two accomplices broke in and attacked them, police said.

They said the 22-year-old attacker, identified as Anurag Pal, later shot himself with a domestically made pistol. While locals claimed Pal had feelings for the daughter of the woman killed in the attack, police said the exact cause could be ascertained only after an investigation.

The incident occurred around 3 am in Godiyan Kheda village under Fatehpur Chaurasi police station limits.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Prem Chandra said Phoolkumari (48), her husband Puttilal (53) and two other family members, including daughter Reshu, were taken to hospital with injuries, but Phoolkumari died.

The condition of the remaining people is stable, he said.

The official said Pal was later found dead near the village with a homemade pistol lying next to him. Villagers claimed he committed suicide after the attack.

Quoting Reshu, police said three people broke into the buildings while they were sleeping on the roof and then shot at them and attacked them with sharp weapons.
