Well-known firefighter killed in accident in Blount County

A firefighter who served in multiple agencies is being remembered. Justin King, 23, of Cleveland, died July 2 when a motorcycle he was operating crashed on Highway 31 near Garden City in Blount County, state troopers said. King was a firefighter/EMT who worked with the Hoover Fire Department, Center Point Fire District and Warrior Fire Department. “Justin and his brother Austin were not just members of our fire family, they were born into it. Growing up near the Center Point Fire, they followed in the footsteps of their father, Jonathan King (JK), who retired in 2015, and became an integral part of our community at a young age,” the Center Point Fire Department said in a social media post. A public wake will be held July 6 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Crossroads Baptist Church in Warrior. A social media post from the fire department said King leaves behind his wife and son.
