39,000 hair dryers recalled due to electric shock hazard – Boston 25 News

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of 39,600 hair dryers.

According to the CPSC, the Tideway high-speed hair dryers do not have a “submersion protection” device. Because the hair dryer does not have such protection, it can cause electric shock or death if it is plugged in and falls into water.

The hair dryers come in white with gold on the handle and “Tideway” printed on them. They feature a color-changing LED ring that indicates temperature settings. They were sold online for about $170 from November 2023 to March 2024, the CPSC said.

If you own one of the recalled hair dryers, you are asked not to use it and contact the Tideway Store for a replacement.

The hair dryers should be unplugged and the cords cut. You should take a photo proving that the hair dryer is unusable and email it to the company. The replacement hair dryer will be shipped once the company receives photographic evidence of destruction. The recalled hair dryer can be thrown away.

For more information, call 209-267-4999 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. CT and visit the Tideway Shop Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. You can also visit the company’s website or contact them via email.
