Motorcyclist dead after collision with car on Cassat Avenue

JACKSONVILLE, Florida. – According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, a motorcyclist was killed after a collision with a car on Cassat Avenue around 5:30 p.m. Monday.

According to police, the car was traveling south on Cassat Avenue and turned left in front of a motorcyclist traveling north.

The motorcycle hit the passenger side of the car and the driver was thrown out, JSO said.

Witnesses reported to police that the motorcyclist was driving fast.

The Jacksonville Fire Department transported the driver to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the car was taken to hospital in stable condition and is cooperating with investigators.

According to JSO, the accident occurred before it started to rain.

This is the 74th traffic fatality in Duval County this year and the 13th involving a motorcyclist.
