Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta Announces Cheryl Venable as New Senior Vice President, Effective August – WSB-TV Channel 2

ATLANTA — The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta announced that Cheryl Venable will be the new senior vice president and chief operating officer effective August 1.

Venable, a career member of the Federal Reserve, will succeed Andre T. Anderson, who will retire July 31 after more than 40 years of service.

According to the Atlanta Fed, Venable will oversee day-to-day operations and serve as vice chairman of the Sixth District Executive Steering Committee.

Venable’s most recent role before becoming senior vice president was as head of payments operations for Federal Reserve Financial Services and executive vice president of the Atlanta Fed.

In her new role, the first vice president will serve as a member of the Atlanta Federal Reserve’s discount committee, which officials said reviews the district’s discount loans. She will also serve as the Atlanta Fed president’s backup in carrying out monetary policy responsibilities.

The search for a new senior vice president had been underway for five months through an internal and external search, with assistance from executive search firm Bridge Partners.

Once selected, and pursuant to Section 4 of the Federal Reserve Act, Venable was appointed Senior Vice President by the Class B and C Directors of the Atlanta Fed, and was approved by the Board of Directors. governors of the Federal Reserve, to continue in this role until the end of the year. the current term in February 2026, according to officials.

A longtime Federal Reserve employee, Venable began her career with the system in 1991 as a management intern in the St. Louis Fed’s Payment System Accounting and Risk Management Department. She then joined the Minneapolis Fed in 1996 before heading the Information Technology Division and serving on the Ninth District Management Committee.

In 2010, Venable joined the Atlanta Fed as chief information officer of the Retail Payments Office, holding several other positions in Atlanta in the interim.
