Chandler police identify woman and daughter found dead – apparent murder-suicide

CHANDLER, AZ (AZFamily) — Chandler police have released the identities of a woman and her young daughter who were found dead earlier this week. The incident is being investigated as a murder-suicide.

They were identified as 49-year-old Cheryl Brashier and 10-year-old Shelby Brashier.

Police say a family friend came to their home Tuesday night and discovered the bodies in their unlocked apartment near Priest Drive and Ray Road. Investigators believe both died of gunshot wounds. Officers also took a gun from the bedroom where they were found.

An administrator at Grace Christian Academy in Tempe confirmed that Cheryl was a first-grade teacher’s aide at the school and the single mother of Shelby, who just graduated fourth grade last month. Below is the full statement sent to school families:
