Rape: 10th class girl raped in Ratibad after marriage proposal | News from Bhopal

Bhopal: A 20-year-old man allegedly befriended a 17-year-old girl through Instagram and raped her on the pretext of marriage in Ratibad. When the accused refused to marry the girl and started avoiding her, she reported the incident to Ratibad police on Tuesday and filed a complaint. Based on her complaint, Ratibad police registered a rape case under IPC and POCSO Act and arrested the accused named Shubham Dubey. Investigating officer SI Moolchand Meena said that the survivor is a class 10 student. In her complaint, she stated that she came in touch with the accused Shubham Dubey, 20, a resident of Goragaon in Ratibad, through Instagram in January this year. Shubhham lured her into his trap on the pretext of friendship and they started chatting with each other. In February, he called her for a meeting at his friend’s hotel in Ratibad and raped her. When she protested, the accused promised to marry her when she was 18. Later, Shubhham raped her several times after that because he had promised her marriage. Recently, when the girl pressured him for marriage, he started avoiding her and finally refused to marry her. Feeling cheated, the girl narrated the incident to her family members and reported the matter to Ratibad police. A case was registered and the accused was arrested. Further investigation was initiated.
