The body was discovered on Tuesday morning along the highway in Bahadrabad area near the Patanjali Research Centre, they added.

The main accused, Adityaraj Saini, was a member of the local BJP OBC Morcha. The party had expelled him from its primary membership on Tuesday, according to a letter from state BJP general secretary Aditya Kothari.

The girl’s mother claimed that Adityaraj, the husband of a village headwoman, was having a relationship with her daughter, who went missing on Sunday evening.

When the mother called her daughter’s mobile phone, Adityaraj answered and said the girl was with him. According to the mother’s complaint, the phone was then switched off.

After the teenager did not return home the next morning, the mother went to Adityaraj’s house, where his accomplice Amit Saini also lives, but could not find her daughter.

When she threatened to go to the police, Adityaraj put pressure on her and threatened to kill her if she did so.

Despite the threats, the girl’s mother contacted the police and filed a missing person report on Monday.

After the body was found on Tuesday, the mother claimed that her daughter was raped and murdered by Adityaraj and Amit.

According to SP Pramendra Dobhal, based on their complaint, the two men were booked for gang rape and murder under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Mr Dobhal said the case was serious and five police teams had been formed to investigate it.

Adityaraj had sought his party’s candidacy in the last parliamentary elections.
