The Man Utd star faces a ban after a player “bounced” a private three-word insult from Ten Hag

Manchester United winger Antony is reportedly facing a ban after his private insult to Erik ten Hag was revealed “in the team’s group chat”.

Antony was one of United’s top targets during the 2022 summer transfer window as Ten Hag set his sights on reuniting with the Brazil international after they worked together at Ajax.

The Dutch giants stood firm during the window and gave United a run for their money over the transfer fee, having spent around £80m plus add-ons to bring the winger to Old Trafford.

The 24-year-old – like most of his current United teammates – failed to live up to expectations following his expensive move to the Premier League giants.

Antony has scored just five goals and provided three assists in his 53 Premier League appearances. After scoring in a 1-1 draw with Burnley last weekend, he started at Crystal Palace on Monday night but was taken off after an hour as Man Utd ended up losing 4-0 at Selhurst Park.

A brace from would-be Man Utd top scorer Michael Olise – as well as goals from Jean-Philippe Mateta and Tyrick Mitchell – condemned Ten Hag’s side to one of their worst defeats of the season. With three games to go they are now eighth in the Premier League table.

After the game, Jamie Carragher hit out at Antony after the winger was seen whispering and covering his mouth while speaking to Mason Mount as they left the pitch.

Carragher said on Sky Sports: “Just get off the pitch! Talking and whispering behind your hand – you were absolutely terrible. They’re probably talking about one of the players or someone else or the manager.

“Just get off the court and inside. You were beaten 0-4. Honestly, embarrassing.”

A report from Globo Sport (above Brazilian football (on Twitter) claims Antony is “at risk of being banned from Man Utd “for the rest of the season”.

This news broke before kick-off at Selhurst Park when Antony was accused of “calling Ten Hag a ‘bald guy’ in the team group chat”.

Ten Hag reportedly wanted to “speak to Antony” after the Palace game as “a screenshot of an unknown player was then passed on to the manager”. The report later states that the “Spitz” in question is probably Mount.

The idea of Mount seemingly lashing out at Antony and ratting him out is pretty hilarious anyway, considering the Brazilian is certainly on borrowed time at Man Utd before Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s summer overhaul at Man Utd.
