Northern Cambria Police Chief Suspended

We begin tonight with a police chief in Cambria County who is facing suspension.

Northern Cambria Borough Police Chief Derek Stitt says he is currently suspended for 11 days.

According to Stitt, the suspension was originally intended to last only one day because he missed a meeting that he was scheduled to attend at the request of the mayor and borough manager.

Stitt said he was on vacation at the time of the meeting and informed district officials he could not attend the meeting.

The suspension was later extended for a further ten days following an argument with the Borough Manager.

Stitt says he expects to return to office on July 8.

District officials say they will not comment on personnel matters at this time
