ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) — Albany police have arrested a 31-year-old and a 27-year-old in connection with a break-in early Wednesday morning at U-Haul on Broadway. Niquell Rouse and Ahlim Muhammad, both of Albany, are charged with several counts.

  • Third degree burglary
  • Third degree grand theft
  • Second degree property damage

Police said they were called to 139 Broadway after receiving reports of a burglary in progress around 2:40 a.m. They reportedly saw a broken glass door.

After further investigation, police believe Rouse and Muhammad broke the glass door to get into the store. It is alleged that the suspects stole a set of keys from a van in the parking lot, then took the van and fled the scene before police arrived.

Rouse and Mohammad were later found in the stolen van near the intersection of Quail and Elk streets and taken into custody, police said. Their arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday morning in Albany Criminal Court.
