Suspended from AAP for anti-party activities, former MP Tyagi joins BJP

Former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Nitin Tyagi joined the BJP on Sunday, claiming that Delhi’s ruling party is heading for its political demise as the focus of its leaders has now shifted to “personal gain” from the welfare of the people.

The former MP from Laxmi Nagar was inducted into the BJP in the presence of Delhi party chief Virendra Sachdeva and Union Minister Harsh Malhotra.

Mr Tyagi was suspended from the AAP after he was accused of “anti-party” activities during the just-concluded Lok Sabha elections. He had spoken out against several policy decisions of the ruling party on social media platforms.

Mr Tyagi said that even speaking the truth was now seen as an “anti-party activity” in the AAP. “People are turning away from them because their politics are based on corruption and loot,” he said.

The chairman said the party led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, which was founded in 2012 as part of social activist Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption movement, had promised to work for the welfare of the people.

“But Arvind Kejriwal’s current move is for his personal gain,” he added.
