Motorcyclist seriously injured in accident in Bay Shore

According to Suffolk police, a motorcyclist was seriously injured in an accident in Bay Shore late Saturday morning.

Investigators say it happened shortly after 11:30 a.m. on Fifth Avenue near Spur Drive South near an exit to the Southern State Parkway.

According to investigators, the driver of a 2006 Chrysler minivan left a parking lot and attempted to turn north onto Fifth Avenue when he collided with a 2021 Suzuki motorcycle.

Fifth Avenue was closed for about two hours.

The motorcyclist, identified as 32-year-old Anthony Dees of Central Islip, was taken to South Shore University Hospital with serious injuries.

According to police, the driver of the minivan was not injured.

Police are asking anyone with information about the accident to call the Suffolk County Police Division 3 at 631-854-8352.
