Sutherlin Police take man to jail after fleeing incident Friday morning – KQEN News Radio

Sutherlin police arrested a man early Friday following a run-away incident.

A police report said that shortly after 12:15 a.m., officers observed a vehicle driving recklessly near the intersection of North Grove Lane and East Central Avenue. The car was located a few minutes later. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but it accelerated and headed east on Nonpareil Road. The vehicle drove up Banks Creek Road with its lights off to hide, but officers saw the vehicle.

The driver, 42-year-old Michael Hammond, showed signs of impairment. A search warrant was obtained and a blood sample was taken. Hammond was charged with attempted eluding a police officer in a vehicle, reckless driving, probation violation and driving under the influence of intoxicants. He was jailed without bail.
