Disneyland employee dies after falling from moving golf cart at theme park

Authorities say a Disneyland employee died earlier this week after falling from a golf cart at the theme park and hitting her head.

Anaheim police said authorities were called to the Southern California theme park Wednesday morning after a woman fell from a moving golf cart in the park’s “backstage area” and hit her head, according to the local news station. KTLA reports.

She was taken to a local hospital in critical condition and succumbed to her injuries on Friday.

The woman was identified by Disneyland as Bonnye Lear, 60. NBC News reports.

Lear was a passenger in the car and the driver was not injured. Drugs or alcohol are not suspected to have been involved in the incident. according to TMZ.

She worked as an administrator for the exclusive Club 33 restaurant at Disneyland. She was an employee of the theme park for 24 years, a Disney spokeswoman said. he told the Hollywood Reporter.

In a statement to Entertainment Weekly, Ken Potrock, president of Disneyland Resorts, said Bonnye was “heartbroken” by her loss and “extends our sincere condolences to everyone who cared for her.”

“Right now, our focus is on supporting her family and our cast members through this tragic event and making sure they have the resources they need,” Potrock added.

The incident is being investigated by the Anaheim Police Department’s Traffic Investigation Unit.
