1 person dies after car crashes into tree, building catches fire in Old Town Louisville | News from WDRB

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (WDRB) — One person died when his car crashed into a tree, causing a building in Old Louisville to catch fire.

John Bradley, a spokesman for the Louisville Metro Police, said officers arrived in the area of ​​2nd and Oak streets shortly before 6:30 p.m.

Police found a burning vehicle and a tree. The fire then spread to a building, but police said no one died from the building fire.

According to police, the vehicle was traveling west on Oak at a high rate of speed and struck a parked car and a tree.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, but it is currently unknown if he was the only person in the vehicle.

Police said the vehicle was destroyed by the fire and the engine is blocked on the passenger side and needs to be removed.
