3. Enjoy free water fun at Discovery Green

It’s a Houston classic: splashing in the 14-foot-tall arching jets of Discovery Green’s Gateway Fountain.

Fountain hours are Monday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Swim diapers are required for infants and toddlers, and water shoes are strongly encouraged. Click here for a complete list of park rules.

4. Head to the beach

If you’re feeling a little more adventurous, pack up the kids and drive the 51 miles to Galveston. Its accessible beaches with soft sand and welcoming waves are a favorite of Texas families. And there are plenty of activities and amenities on land as well.

Just make sure you swim safely: there are things hiding in the water. πŸ”½
