Edo 2024: NNPP suspends governorship candidates

The suspension letter dated June 3 was signed by the chairman of District 10 Kadiri Eshimokha, Manager, woman Stella Afebua, Youth leader comrade Eshiobu Johnson, and Secretary Comrade Imonikho Abdul.

The letter cites serious allegations of gross misconduct, anti-party activities and disrespect for the party as reasons for Azena’s suspension.

Copies of the suspension letter were sent to the National Chairman of the party, the Edo State Chairman, the Edo North Senate Deputy Chairman, the South South Deputy Chairman, the National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of Edo State.

According to Daily Trust, the party’s state president received the suspension notice on June 5.

Azena then vehemently rejected the suspension as unlawful and irrelevant. He clarified that the people mentioned in the alleged suspension letter did not belong to his constituency.

“The authentic Chairman of NNPP Ward 10, Etsako East Local Government Chapter is Mr. Goddy Iyamah. He has since refuted the allegation.” he said, according to Daily Trust.

As can be seen, all attempts to reach Iyama and the national leadership of the party for comment at the time of filing this report were unsuccessful.

He received 100 votes and defeated Rev. Sebastian Iyere And Balogun Engeyemhewho received 25 and 17 votes respectively.

After winning the primaries, he received the support of the party’s national leader, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Describing Azena as a man of integrity and a figure respected by the people, Kwankwaso stressed that the people of Edo must choose the NNPP as a viable alternative in the upcoming elections.
