We prayed that this would defy the odds and prove to us that he wanted to stay, but now we see that he wanted to give us time to come to terms with letting him go. I told you my baby was thoughtful and attentive, and I truly believe he did that for us.”

Levi was hospitalized and is in critical condition because his brain has been deprived of oxygen for too long since the river accident on May 21. “Soon I will climb into bed with my baby and hold him as he falls asleep for the last time on this earth,” Kallie wrote. “It brings me comfort knowing that he will go back to being the perfect little boy he was and be able to do all the things he loves! I know there are angels up there waiting to hold him until I can again!”

Kallie concluded her emotional post by saying that she and Levi’s family will “miss him every second of every day down here, but are convinced without a shadow of a doubt that this is the best thing we can do for him.”

She added a final message to Levi: “We love you, baby beans, and I can’t wait for the day when you can ‘work the soil’ with me again!”
