The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case of a woman who was found dead in her apartment due to “trauma”

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) – During a welfare check on Sunday, a 46-year-old woman was found dead in her East Harris County apartment, police said.

The woman was found Sunday afternoon in her apartment at the Lafayette Village Apartments, 4822 E. Sam Houston Parkway North.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office believes the woman died from physical injuries but did not provide further details.

“Right now we’re trying to put together a timeline and figure out exactly what happened,” said Jason Brown of the sheriff’s office.

Apparently it was family members who found the victim after being unable to contact her all weekend.

“They arrived at the scene and eventually forced entry into the apartment. They found the dead woman inside,” Brown said.

When the Harris County Sheriff’s Office examined the victim, they said her body appeared to have suffered “trauma.”

They said the cause of death had yet to be determined.

“We don’t want to speculate. We know she died from some kind of trauma and we’ll go from there,” Brown said.

According to investigators, there were no signs that anyone had attempted to break into or rob the victim.

They assume that the woman had already been dead for several days when she was finally found.

“She lives alone at the location except for her son. We are currently trying to locate him and speak to him,” Brown said.

Investigators spoke to the woman’s daughter.

At this point, they have no motive or story. Investigators said there were no signs that anyone had broken into the apartment before her family found it.
