State police investigate fatal two-vehicle crash near Milton – Delaware State Police

Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred near Milton Thursday afternoon.

On May 30, 2024, at approximately 2:28 p.m., a Mercedes E-Class was traveling southbound on Harbeson Road and slowed to turn left onto Carpenter Road. At the same time, a Toyota RAV-4 was traveling northbound on Harbeson Road and approaching Carpenter Road. For reasons still under investigation, the Mercedes turned directly in front of the RAV-4, causing the front of the Mercedes to strike the front of the RAV-4.

The driver of the Mercedes, a 62-year-old woman from Camden, Delaware, was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. A passenger, a 12-year-old child, was also taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the Toyota, a 65-year-old woman from Harbeson, Delaware, was taken to a nearby hospital where she died. Her name is being withheld pending notification of her family. Two passengers, a 44-year-old woman and a 4-year-old child, were taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

The road was closed for about three hours while the accident scene was being investigated and cleared.

The Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this incident.
