Magazine review

ROCKVILLE – A Rockville couple is facing neglect charges in connection with the death of their toddler.

On May 17, the Indiana State Police were contacted by the Vermillion County Coroner’s Office in reference to a deceased three-month-old child who had been taken to Union Health Hospital in Clinton.

The deceased toddler was taken to Union Health Hospital by the toddler’s parents, Ashlynn G. Casey, 18, and Jordan Washington, 24, both of Rockville.

During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the death had occurred in Rockville. An autopsy performed on May 20 at Regional Hospital revealed that the child had died of malnutrition.

Casey and Washington were both arrested Friday at the Putnamville State Police Post on Parke County warrants for neglect of a dependent person resulting in death. Both were arrested without incident and transported to the Putnam County Jail.

The investigation is being conducted by Indiana State Police Master Trooper Detective Ryan Winters with assistance from First Sergeant Brian Maudlin and CSI Sergeant Kari Woodard. The Parke County Prosecutor’s Office, Rockville Police Department and Parke County Coroner’s Office also assisted.

The investigation is ongoing.
