Man officially charged in crash that killed 40-year-old – WHIO TV 7 and WHIO Radio

MIAMI TOWNSHIP – A man is facing charges in connection with a 2023 car crash that killed a 40-year-old man.

James Elliott was indicted by a Montgomery County grand jury on charges of manslaughter, failure to obey orders or signals of a police officer, aggravated vehicular manslaughter, and driving under the influence.

As News Center 7 previously reported, Ohio State Highway Patrol officers were called to an accident at SR-741 and Lyons Road on August 25, 2023.

Elliott was traveling south on SR-741 when he failed to stop at a red light and collided with the car of 40-year-old Denis Jacobs of Miamisburg, who was making a left turn.

Jacobs succumbed to his injuries.

According to court documents, urine and blood tests found marijuana in Elliott’s system.

He is not in custody and is scheduled to be arraigned on June 6.
