Severe thunderstorm warnings possible in MA, New England on Thursday – NBC Boston

We have a first alert day on Thursday for isolated thunderstorms this afternoon until sunset. The time frame is anytime between noon and 8 p.m. where we will see isolated strong to severe storms as a cold front approaches from the west.

We already had some showers and thunderstorms on Thursday morning, and as we see some warming during the day, further development is to be expected.

A severe thunderstorm warning has already been issued for parts of Connecticut. Click here for the latest weather alerts in your area.

High temperatures on Thursday will still reach the 27 to 30 degrees across New England as our humidity remains high despite the clouds. Any storm activity can bring us hail, damaging winds, heavy downpours and lightning, so keep an eye on the sky and if thunder occurs, immediately seek shelter indoors until the storm passes.

As we dry out again on Friday, highs will be in the crisp 80s and dew points will be lower, into the 50s. However, the cold front is stalling just off the South Coast, so there could be some thunderstorms around Cape Cod and the islands early Friday morning as we dry out there by late morning.

Memorial Day weekend will be cooler, with highs in the 70s to 60s. Inland, high temperatures on Saturday could reach nearly 80° with plenty of sunshine, while on the coast a sea breeze will keep us around 70°. As some disturbance passes, there may be some afternoon showers on Sunday and Monday, particularly in the mountains.

Our unsettled weather will continue from Monday to Wednesday next week, with highs around 15 degrees and repeated showers as a low pressure system approaches early next week.
