Actress Nina Dobrev in hospital after accident: “Long road to recovery”

“Vampire Diaries” star Nina Dobrev is recovering in hospital after a serious fall from her motorcycle.

The actress, best known for her role as Elena Gilbert in the 2009-2017 drama, shared a grim photo from the emergency room on Instagram.

The 35-year-old can be seen wearing a neck and knee brace while doctors stood next to her.

Dobrev shared two photos with her 26 million Instagram followers: the first shows her happily posing with her motorcycle, the second while receiving treatment in the hospital.

“How it started vs. how it’s going,” she captioned the post on Tuesday morning.

She later added a selfie from her hospital bed to her Instagram Stories along with an update.

“I’m fine, but the road to recovery is long,” she said, heartbroken and with a head bandage emoji on her face.

Dobrev’s friend and former Olympic snowboarder Shaun White was among the commenters and wrote, “Just keeping it on brand.”

“That’s my girl! Obviously I wouldn’t be joking if you weren’t OK…” said Footloose star Julianne Hough.

Others were quick to point out her previous series, The Vampire Diaries, in which her character was transformed into an invisible vampire.

“Girl, remember that vampire blood no longer has any effect on you,” one joked.

“Nina you’re not a vampire you’re human lol,” said a second.

“You need vampire blood,” suggested another.

Dobrev has not yet disclosed the full extent of her injuries.

Her motorcycle accident occurred just days after her boyfriend White announced that the couple is currently working on a bucket list together.

“It was really fun spending time together. “Usually I’m competing and she’s doing a project or something… but now we have some time together,” the former Olympian told Us Weekly on May 16.

“We went to Antarctica, to Dubai, visited her mother in France, went to Monaco, went to Indonesia. We’ve been practically everywhere.”

He shared that a big part of the wish list was to “connect with friends” because they were both so busy with their own careers.

“I want to be there for Thanksgiving, I want to be there for Christmas, I want to be there for people’s birthdays and holidays,” White continued.

“It’s like those little things that you put aside when you’re completely focused on the task at hand, which is competing.”

The couple has been together since 2020.

Dobrev previously dated her Vampire Diaries co-star and lover Ian Somerhalder from 2010 to 2013.
