Recall warning: Porsche Cayman, Boxster rollover risk

Porsche has issued a recall for 10 Boxster and Cayman 2-seaters from model year 2024 because they can roll away when parked.

Porsche tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that an improperly installed safety clip may have damaged a transmission cable. If this damage occurred, the shift lever may go into park mode but the transmission will not, allowing the cars to roll while parked.

Porsche is aware of two incidents related to the problem, both outside the United States. Each of these incidents caused “body damage” but no injuries.

The dealer will replace the shift cable and safety clip to correct the problem. Recall repairs are always free.

Automakers recall many cars to fix safety defects, sometimes more than once. While automakers try to reach every owner and ask them to bring the vehicle in for repairs, they rarely reach everyone. Millions of vehicles on American roads need free recall repairs. Check the simple VIN tool in our recall center to see if your car is eligible.
