Second Chic’s Outlet from $5 to $25 – Buffalo Rising

Second Chic, a consignment store that sells new and recycled fashion for women and men in the WNY area, has opened its first $5-$25 Outlet store at 1871 Elmwood Avenue (near the corner of Hertel). Designer/entrepreneur Annie Adams and her sister Lara Martin came up with this new concept to manage the overflow of clothing donated by shippers.

“The point of sale gives clothing and accessories an extra chance to sell,” Adams said. “We hoped that by opening this outlet, we would be able to serve a new community that does not shop at our two main locations in Elmwood Village and Williamsville. Everything is priced between $5 and $25, with monthly colors at 50% off.

While Second Chic’s $5-$25 outlet is the last stop for clothing and accessories to sell, there’s one last hurray for merchandise that doesn’t find a home.

“We were, and still are, donating what wasn’t sold to Clara’s Closet for the refugee community,” Adams said. “Both Second Chic locations were overloaded with donations in December and we were scrambling to find places to accommodate all the merchandise. What wasn’t sold in December was donated to Clara’s Closet, located in the basement of Central Park United Methodist Church at 216 Beard Avenue in Buffalo.

In addition to selling heavily discounted clothing and accessories, Second Chic’s $5-$25 store continues to accept items from the community.

“We accept clothing at the point of sale without an appointment,” Adams noted. When a customer brings items in, they receive store credit on-site that they can use at any of three locations! There is no need to wait for your items to sell, like on the other two sites.

Second Chic has been a mainstay of consignment clothing for years and continues to be a leader in expertly curated thrift sales in Western New York. Now, the new $5-$25 Outlet adds another cost-effective way to stock up on sustainable fashion that might otherwise never see the light of day.
