New Delhi: Former US President Donald Trump’s team has announced it will sue over a biopic that contains scenes of rape, erectile dysfunction and reckless betrayal. However, the makers of the film said on Tuesday (May 21, 2022) that it allowed viewers to feel sympathy for the renowned businessman.

“The Apprentice” premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on Monday (May 20, 2024). The film’s plot revolves around Donald Trump’s early years as an ambitious young real estate developer in New York in the 1970s and 1980s.

The film will star Romanian-American actor Sebastian Stan. Jeremy Strong also plays his unscrupulous mentor and lawyer Roy Cohn.

Director Ali Abbasi was quoted at the prestigious annual event as saying that Donald Trump’s team should wait until they see the film before starting to sue them. He added that it was the kind of film that Donald Trump wouldn’t necessarily reject, but rather that it would surprise him.

Lawsuit against Donald Trump biopic?

Steven Cheung, Donald Trump’s campaign communications director, told APF that a lawsuit will be filed to denounce the “patently false claims” of these pseudo-filmmakers. He mentioned that this “garbage” was pure fiction designed to sensationalize long-debunked lies.

Director defends rape scene

The scene in question shows Donald Trump raping his first wife Ivana after she belittled him for becoming fat and bald. However, the director of the explosive biopic defended the sequence, saying the alleged incident was well known and shed light on the ex-president’s character.

Donald Trump is on trial in Manhattan over a scandal involving an adult star. He is expected to run against Joe Biden in the US presidential election in the coming months.
