Fairbury man dies in ATV accident | 1340 KGFW

SEWARD CO., NE – A Fairbury man died in an ATV rollover accident.

According to the Seward County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to an ATV rollover on 413th Road, south of Pioneer’s Road, at 8:58 p.m. on Saturday, May 18.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Corey D. Smith, 46, of Fairbury, was traveling south on 413th Street when the SUV left the roadway and went up an embankment.

According to SCSO, Smith lost control of the ATV, which overturned and pinned him underneath.

He was transported to Friend Community Hospital and then to Bryan West Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Alcohol is believed to have been a factor.

The SCSO is investigating the accident. Beaver Crossing Fire/Rescue and StarCare Medical Transport assisted.
