What we know about the helicopter crash that killed Iran’s President Raisi

The death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi was confirmed on Monday, more than 12 hours after reports first emerged on Sunday that his helicopter had disappeared in the northwest of the country.

First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber quickly took over as president on Monday, according to a statement from Iran’s Guardian Council broadcast on state media. Iran’s cabinet also named Ali Bagheri Kani, the former top nuclear negotiator, as the country’s acting foreign minister.
